The ASEAN Corporate Governance Conference and Awards 2025 in Kuala Lumpur brought together corporate governance leaders from across the region to exchange insights and best practices. Session 2 of the panel discussion, Board Leadership in a Changing Governance Landscape, featured Atty. Benedicta Du-Baladad, FICD, Chairperson of the Institute of Corporate Directors Philippines; YBhg. Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Senior Independent Director of IOI Corporation Berhad; John Lim, Immediate Past Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of IREIT Global Singapore and Corporate Governance Expert (Singapore) for the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard; and Angela Simatupang, Director of the Global Board of RSM Indonesia and Corporate Governance Expert (Indonesia) for the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard. The discussion focused on how boards are adapting to evolving governance challenges, emphasizing diversity, independence, and competency as key to effective decision-making, risk oversight, and sustainable value creation.

Moderated by Selvarany Rasiah, Independent Director of MSWG and CEO of KLDX Sdn Bhd, the panel also explored how ASEAN companies can strengthen accountability and governance structures in light of regulatory developments and rising stakeholder expectations
